    At Hearten Therapy, we are searching for a couples therapist to join our team full-time. We specifically seek individuals with expertise in relational and systemic therapy, catering to the diverse needs of both individuals and couples across various life stages. Although we have a particular interest in marriage and family therapists, we enthusiastically invite applications from all candidates with experience in couples therapy and a deep commitment to ongoing systemic work.

    This position is thoughtfully structured as a W-2 role, ensuring a direct correlation between compensation and your invaluable services.     • W-2 Employment (we cover employer-paid payroll and revenue taxes, worker’s comp costs, mandated paid sick time costs, and all administrative and business costs, including but not limited to EHR, GSuite, payroll, marketing, etc.).

    • Salary range $50,000-$90,000 based on caseload performace and bonus opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities

Clinical Work   

  • Conduct virtual clinical therapy sessions for clients as scheduled, adhering to evidence-based practices and company policies.

  • Provide thorough consultation with prospective clients to assess the goodness of fit, ensuring a mutual understanding of expectations and goals before scheduling an intake session.

Licensing Compliance

  • Maintain proper licensing and adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical codes.

Attendance, Punctuality, and Prompt Communication

  • Ensure regular and reliable attendance, demonstrating timely arrival for sessions, meetings, etc.

  • Respond to administrative and client requests or calls consistently and appropriately within 24-48 hours of receiving contact. 

Documentation

  • Complete accurate and timely written records for each client, including intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contact notes, and other essential documents.

Insurance Management and Billing Procedures

  • Communicate clearly about insurance and billing procedures to clients, which involves providing information about how insurance coverage works, including deductibles, co-pays, and payment.

Networking

  • Actively engage in networking, connecting with wellness professionals and resources within the community.

Specialization and Professional Development

  • Develop your therapeutic niche by actively participating in and facilitating training sessions, blogging, workshops, and events within the community.

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, supervision, consultation sessions, performance reviews, and training as directed, fostering continuous professional development.

Requirements, qualifications, and skills

Education

  • Master’s or Doctoral degrees (LMFT, AMFT) in Marriage & Family Therapy are highly preferred.

  • Master’s degree (LSCW, LCPC, etc.) with substantial couples therapy experience and training in approaches such as the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Sex Therapist Certification, Discernment counseling, etc.

Specialization and Experience

  • At least one relational niche interest for counseling services (e.g., pre-marital counseling, pregnancy/postpartum support, adjustment to parenthood, sex therapy, divorce, etc.).

  •  Knowledge and experience with couples work and family systems theory.

Clinical Competence

  • Competence in evaluating and treating mental and emotional disorders, addressing health and behavioral problems, and handling a variety of relationship issues within the family system.

  • Strong clinical and administrative skills, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, progress note writing, scheduling, and client communication.

Licensing and Availability

  • Active, unrestricted professional license in Illinois.

  • Available to conduct at least 25 patient sessions per week through telehealth visits, with 30 hours weekly reserved for client scheduling.

  • Ability to see clients 2-3 evenings per week.
